How Media Session Works

Energy Radio broadcasts current song metadata (title, artist, album art) through the Media Session API, which feeds into:

Google Home & Nest

Control playback from smart displays, see song info on screens

iOS Control Center

Play/pause from lock screen, see current track & artist

Wireless Headphones

Control from headphone buttons, media keys on keyboards

Information Shared

🖼️Album art in multiple sizes (96–512px)
⏸️Playback state (playing/paused)
🎙️Show host (when no song is available)

This information is only visible on YOUR devices that are logged in and within your home network. It's not shared publicly.

Getting Started

  1. 1Open Energy Radio in your browser on any device
  2. 2Start playing a stream — metadata is automatically shared
  3. 3Check your device's native controls (lock screen, Control Center, etc.)
  4. 4Use voice commands on Google Home/Nest: "What's playing on Energy Radio?"
